Meet the Artist
Lori Brooks Hey is an inspired painter of portraits and landscapes. She is blessed with a special gift and delights in sharing this with others. With great care and sensitivity, Lori works with her clients to create portraits that achieve both an accurate likeness and also a vibrant representation of their spirit. Using her exceptional skills, she captures the unique qualitites that make each person beautiful and precious.
Lori is a graduate of Cornell University and the Harvard Graduate School of Design. She is devoted to a life-long study of art and has painted commissioned portraits for almost two decades. She has studied with nationally recognized portrait artists Daniel Greene, Marvin Mattelson, and Peggy Baumgartner. Her artistic inspiration is drawn from Old Masters including, Rembrandt and Velasquez, Academic Masters such as, Raeburn and Ingres, and Contemporary Realists like, Shanks and Lack.
The artist’s portrait, “Sarah at Six”, was a finalist in the Portrait Society of America’s Tri-State Portrait Competition. Also, her figure painting, “Forgiven Much”, was selected as a finalist in the juried art competition, “Images of Reconciliation”, in Pasadena, CA. Her work has been accepted into juried art shows in Atlanta, Hilton Head, and Durham. She is a member of the Portrait Society of America and Pastel Society of America. Her portrait paintings hang in fine homes up and down the east coast.
